Hi! Let's walk through the technique I used to record the Hewwop1 EP, which i released recently. Hope it will be useful for you pals. P.S. Share your techniques and tips in comments too :)
I wanted to try my hand at creating something using samples, but without using any of the sequencers or tape on the OP-1. I found if you trim the samples so that the downbeats are all on the white keys and the upbeats are all on the black keys, it makes it a lot easier to keep track of where you are in the measure and have more freedom while messing around.
So here we have an in depth - deep dive - mega tutorial - ultra look ... or whatever other silly name for a demo of the Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator Modular 400. I'll take you through each module giving some tips and ideas of how to use them (AM synthesis on the VCA is great, linear FM on the sine is great for example) and in-between each section break the video up with patches and examples both playfully dotted around the house playing out of the speaker and with direct recording explaining how to make certain patches.
